About Kabarnet University College

Our History

Kabarnet University College (KUC) is a newly established public institution of higher learning created under the Universities Act, 2012 (Cap 210) through the Kabarnet University College Order, 2025, Kenya gazette supplement no. 85, Legal Notice No. 109 of 13th June 2025. KUC officially opened in June 2025 and currently operates from the former Moi Teachers Training College- Baringo campus in Seretunin, about 14 km from Kabarnet Town in Baringo County, Kenya. Following the establishment of KUC, Moi TTC was relocated to the Talai High School premises to pave the way for the conversion of its former site into a modern university college.

As a constituent college of Moi University, KUC aims to expand access to university education, promote innovation and research, and foster regional and national development through knowledge and technology transfer.

Academic Structure

School of Education and Social Sciences:
Focuses on Social Sciences Courses including teacher education, and curriculum development to support the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

School of Business, Economics and Tourism:
Offers programmes in business administration, entrepreneurship, tourism, hospitality and economics to prepare students for leadership in both public and private sectors.

School of Agriculture, Science and Technology:
Focuses on advancing knowledge and practical skills in agriculture, applied sciences, and emerging technologies. The school equips students with innovative and sustainable approaches to food production, environmental management, and technological solutions that address real-world challenges in agriculture and rural development.

Governance and Administration

Kabarnet University College operates under the Kabarnet University College Order, 2025, and is guided by national university governance laws and Mwongozo guidelines. Governance organs include the Council, the Principal, Deputy Principals, the Academic Board, and Moi University as the mentor institution.

Research, Innovation & Community Engagement

KUC promotes applied research, innovation, and outreach addressing teacher education, agricultural productivity in ASAL regions, ICT, entrepreneurship, and community development. The College collaborates with the Baringo County Government, local industries,  and international academic institutions and development partners to drive innovation and capacity building.

Our Location

Kabarnet University College is located at Seretunin, about 14 km from Kabarnet Town, off the Kabarnet–Kabartonjo Road, within the former Moi TTC premises. The Seretunin environment and panoramic views of the Tugen Hills make it an ideal setting for academic pursuit and innovation.

Future Outlook

Kabarnet University College is in its formative phase with plans to develop a modern main campus, introduce postgraduate programmes, and establish research centres and innovation hubs. The College aims to progress toward full charter status as Kabarnet University in the near future.
