Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Extension and Education

The Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Extension and Education is an undergraduate degree programme that prepares students with knowledge and skills in agricultural systems, extension communication, education, rural development, and community engagement. The programme combines theoretical and practical approaches to enable graduates to educate, empower, and support farming communities, agricultural institutions, schools, and government agencies.

Applicants must meet any one of the following:

  • Minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ (Plus) with at least C (Plain) in relevant subjects such as Biology/Biological Sciences, Chemistry/Agriculture, Mathematics/Physics or Physical Sciences, and English/Kiswahili; OR
  • Diploma in Agriculture, Agricultural Education, Agricultural Extension, or other related fields from a recognised institution; OR
  • Any other qualification recognised by the University Senate in line with CUE guidelines.
  • Duration: Four (4) academic years
  • Mode of Study: Full‑time

Graduates of the programme may pursue careers in:

  • Agricultural extension services and advisories
  • Teaching agriculture and related sciences at secondary and tertiary institutions
  • Rural development and community outreach coordination
  • Farm and agribusiness management support
  • Agricultural consultancy and project planning
  • Government and non‑government agricultural development agencies

The programme also provides a foundation for postgraduate studies in agriculture, extension education, rural development, and related fields.
