Blood Donation

Kabarnet University College, through the Dean of Students’ office, organized a series of engaging activities leading up to the Freshers’ Evening on Friday, 8th November 2025. The day began mid-morning with a Blood Donation Drive, Commissioned by the Acting Deputy Principal for Academic Research, Extension, and Student Affairs, Prof. Bernard Malakwen. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service and the college’s health services team. Over 100 students voluntarily registered, underwent health screenings, and donated blood, reflecting the college’s strong commitment to community service in alignment with its vision and mission. Participants expressed enthusiasm about contributing to this noble cause and benefiting from professional health assessments.

Before the Freshers’ Evening, the Dean of Students, Prof. Prisca J. Tanui, delivered brief remarks and introduced the Student Governing Council, chaired by Kevin Kipkemboi Korir. Prof. Malakwen then addressed the students, emphasizing the critical values of discipline, focus, and hard work throughout their academic journey.

The afternoon’s highlight was a special address by the Acting Principal, Prof. Daniel Chebutuk. He encouraged students to strike a healthy balance between their academic responsibilities and personal lives to ensure a fulfilling university experience. This session ended with an interactive Q&A, allowing students to directly engage with university leadership.

The students also received complimentary Bibles from Gideons International, a thoughtful gesture aimed at nurturing their spiritual growth during their time at Kabarnet University College. The day’s events successfully combined service, inspiration, engagement, and enjoyment, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the new academic year.

The Freshers’ Evening commenced at 7 PM with the Master of Ceremonies and DJ energizing the crowd, facilitating ice-breakers, and hosting a Talent Show featuring diverse student performances. The audience enthusiastically voted for their favorites. The night proceeded with an Open Mic and social hour accompanied by lively DJ music, offering students a platform to share stories, showcase talents, or simply enjoy a vibrant social environment. The event concluded at 10:30 PM with an Evening Reflection and Closing session led by the MC, who provided words of encouragement and thoughtful reflection to wind down a memorable day.
