
Kabarnet University College (KUC) hosted officials from the Commission for University Education (CUE) on 25th February 2025. This was a routine follow-up visit to assess the institution’s progress since its inception, further it’s part of the Commission’s ongoing regulatory oversight, focused on evaluating milestones achieved and reviewing the institution’s preparedness for the next stage of its development.
Leadership Reception and Institutional Briefing
The CUE delegation was received by the Kabarnet University College Management team led by the Ag. Principal, Prof. Daniel Chebutuk Rotich. He was accompanied by:
- Ag. Deputy Principal (Academic and Student Affairs), Prof. Bernard Malakwen
- Ag. Deputy Principal (Administration, Planning and Finance), Prof. Josephat Cheboi
- Ag. Registrars, Dr. Jacob Yego and Dr. Monicah Chelang’a
During the session, the management presented detailed updates on academic programmes, staffing, governance structures, infrastructure development, student enrollment, and quality assurance systems.

Academic Growth and Student Progress
The University College currently has 569 pioneer students who enrolled on 18th September 2025 in three Academic programmes. The students successfully completed their first semester in December 2025 and are currently midway through their second semester, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of the institution.
The Commission acknowledged the progress made across key operational and academic areas and noted the deliberate efforts undertaken to align institutional systems with national regulatory standards. The delegation commended the University College for the visible transformation since the initial inspection and recognized the commitment demonstrated by management in strengthening structures that support quality teaching, learning, and research.
While highlighting areas requiring further improvements the team provided an exit report outlining actionable recommendations to guide the institution toward full compliance. The officials expressed optimism that, upon effective implementation of the recommendations contained in the exit report, a final inspection report will be produced.
The Commission indicated that they will return in early May to review the progress made in implementing the recommendations.
